There’s something in the water here in Pesda, or at least there was nine months ago! Not one baby but three, we will have to establish a Dyffryn Ogwen branch of the club soon.

Congratulations to Dafydd (Beech) and Angharad on the birth of their daughter a few weeks ago.  Mum, Dad and Gwenno are doing great. The pun in Welsh is very poor, and doesnt really translate into English, and I’m not going to bother explaining, but here goes. Who knows we might see Gwenno following Dad ‘Rownd a Rownd’ the Marin or following Mum acting in ‘Rownd a Rownd’. Dafs riding partner is already bored waiting for Daf to get back on his bike so is looking for new friends to go riding with, check the Events page for info.

Congratulations also to Meirion and Mel on the birth of a son, Gwydion Eryri, good name! And to Bedwyr and Non on the birth of their daughter, sorry dont know the name. Both Meirion and Bedwyr work in the Menter Iaith office in Llanrwst, Meirion a roadie, and Bedwyr occassionally seen on a mountain bike. Both at some point have been club members, time for you both to rejoin boys.

The club are looking for someone to be a ride co-ordiantor. This job means talking to various club members to arrange a calendar of rides for next year.

As you are aware the children and young people rides have been very succesful, and as a result this side of the clubs work and events is very strong. As a result Mike and Welsh Cycling have seen the need for a series of cross country races. Because a number of us have been concentrating on this we have not done much with the adult rides. If you have a spare few hours every month to help arrange, could you contact Gwyds on post@beicio.com.

Congratulations to Gareth and Sioned on the birth of their daughter, Nel Grug, a few weeks early but Mum and Nel are both doing great. I’m sure it wont be long before we see Nel on a bike as Dad and Uncle Giz are both members and Mum and Uncle Aled have both been seen on bikes!

This years Summer Social will be on Sunday 23 August in Nant BH from 10am. There will be an opportunity for all club members to ride on the Llwybr Haearn, there will be no official rides it will be up to members to make their own arrangements for rides on the day. Later in the afternoon there will a BBQ, you will have to bring your own food and drink. Before going out for rides I will be presenting the Club Development Plan and we will hear from Mike Tong how his new post fits into the plan. Following this there will be an Official Club Meeting.

Congratulations to Mike Tong for his recent appointement as Welsh Cycling Go-Ride and Mountain Bike Development Officer for North West Wales. He has been in the post for a few weeks now, and will remain as the club’s vice-chairman and as part of his new job will expand on his work with local children and young people. There will be an opportunity to hear more from Mike about his new post during the Summer Social on  23 August.

This appointement sounds very promising to the development of Mountain Biking in the area and it is hoped that some very exciting projects and opportunities will arise from it.

Sorry I read the results wrong so its congratulations to Iwan Ll. Willis for winning the first Time Trial on the Llwybr Haearn, 5 loops of nearly 500 metres each.

Also congratlations to Megan Murray being the only girl and therefore winning, having completed 4 loops.

On Tuesday 7th April Alun Ffred Jones (AM) came to officially open the Llwybr Haearn. He and Conwy County officials were very impressed with the track, as well as the Welsh Cycling official. There was a good turn out from the club to support the day and put on a good show for the Minister and all the other officials. Thanks to you all for coming.

There are now leader packs available to be used when you lead sessions/rides for the club. They include a first aid kit, pump, mini tool, tyer levers, spare tubes all in a nice backpack! They will be stored in the container at Nant, if you want to borrow them get in touch with me.

Recenlty Boomerang TV company were filming Gari Fon competing against Tudur a presenter for Planed Plant on S4C. The two competed against each other on 3 challenges set on the Llwybr Haearn for a programme called Taclo Tudur, to be aired soon. I wont tell you who won just yet!
